Two major weaknesses of the traditional tunnel incubator have troubled the hatchery industry for decades.
The sharp increase in heat generation of the late stage embryos causes the rapid rise in air temperature. The modest heat absorption of the early stage embryos causes a slight reduction of air temperature. At the mid-stage, between racks 3 and 4, excessively high air temperature is observed. This greatly increased the number of weak chicks and early dead embryos.
Heat dissipation of each egg rack is much more efficient at the upper and lower tiers than at the mid-tiers. The airflow laminar state causes air temperature stratification: the temperature at the center is significantly higher than the temperature at the upper and the lower tiers with a temperature differential of as much as 2.2 °F. This results in much slower hatch in the top and bottom tiers and the hatch window is greatly extended.
The Regal Intelligent partition tunnel incubator divides the 6 racks into 4 – 2 partitions. Intelligent temperature control is used in the major 4 – rack region, ensuring that the air temperature of the return airflow is at 100.6°F which eliminated the excessively high temperature problem at the rack 3 and 4 region.
The fans at the minor 2 – rack region agitates and mix the stratified air, resulting in a temperature differential of less than 0.3°F. The collision and agitation of the air from the major and minor region give rise to an evenly mixed air with even temperature and humidity, fully realizing the benefits of the tunnel incubator, warming the early stage eggs with the heat from the late stage embryo. This significantly reduces the hatch window, and greatly improved the chick quality.
